Us and the Water Element

I find it hard to understand why we start discussing realities of life - and every one of them full of deep philosophies - when we are with a great and like minded group of people. It was one of such occasions when we were having dinner on the Baga Beach, Goa. We were full and standing in front of the vast Arabian sea. It was night and we were hardly able to see the water, but, nonetheless, it was making it's presence felt. People say water makes you numb, water creates agitations in your heart, water scares you, water makes you feel free, water teaches you to flow, water teaches you about uncertainties because it is formless, but it all depends on your own instantaneous mood. You cannot feel all these at the same time.
It all started when someone said "I would not trade for the world to be in the middle of that sea right now" ; and it came crashing in on me the comparison between the nature and my existence. The noise originating from the sea waves was nothing less than a furore and the energy with which it approached us every single time was enough to arouse feelings of fear -  as if it would wash us away. The intimidation the waves created is undeniable but never once did they reach our feet because of the constant fight among themselves, obstructing each others movements. May be it's the natures way of controlling things.
And someone said again "what if you are traveling in an aeroplane over an ocean, and it crashes". It entailed a series of discussions. "Scary as it is, no one will be alive until it reaches the ocean", was a firm remark. "Human life is not that feeble, one will surely hit the ocean and then drown to death", was a counter remark. But the point is where do we stand compared to ALL that is called as nature. Nowhere. No matter whether we hit the water or choke in the air, can we do anything about it? Certainly not. Humans were given intelligence but no supernatural powers. May be it's the natures way of controlling things.
